Football DataCo manages the data rights of the professional football Leagues in England and Scotland. The core elements of its role are to protect, market and commercialise the rights to official match related data.
Football DataCo has established its copyright in live data under the EU Database Directive and Rights in Databases Regulations 1997 and, working alongside a series of partners oversees the collection, management, licencing and distribution of the Leagues official event and performance data worldwide.
Football DataCo also protects the still player action images from the English Premier League and the English Football League (EFL), against commercial exploitation and for use within editorial match reporting content.
A key part of Football DataCo’s role is managing the central accreditation scheme for the Premier League and EFL via i-PBS, an online media accreditation tool for approved media representatives to apply for access to English Premier League and EFL matches.
